BREATHING IS THE KEY TO GOOD HEALTH

Breathing is the Key to Good Health

Breath is the key to health. The great German poet and thinker Johann Wolfgang Goethe once exclaimed, "Every breath and breath is the grace of God that makes life infinitely wonderful." "Yoga Sutra" also says: "Change your breath, you change your body; Change your breath and you change your mind; Change your breath and you change your destiny." Yoga can effectively relieve stress, an important factor is to breathe correctly, through the adjustment of breathing style, so as to relax the mind, strengthen the normal operation of organs, and improve mental energy, away from a bad mood.

The effects of breathing are not only physical but also emotional and mental. For example, when people are scared, they gasp and hold their breath. When people are tired and bored, their breath is drawn very long and they yawn; When people are angry or sad, their breathing becomes irregular and choppy; When people are nervous, worried, or anxious, their breathing becomes shallow. When people are happy, they breathe more smoothly and slowly. Improper breathing will make people easy to become nervous, dry depression, negative emotions, and pressure can not be released and relieved naturally. Therefore, if you can control your breathing, you may be able to reduce your mood swings.

Concerning the relation between breath and emotion, the physician Avicenna's Canon 1091 says, "Breath then arises out of the mixture of originality, and gradually approaches the divine being. It is a luminous substance, a ray of light." And 1092 says, "This is why men are filled with joy when they see light and feel lost when they are in darkness. Light and breath are in harmony, but darkness is the opposite."

Meditation practices have always focused on the role of breathing. They use the breath to achieve different purposes because regulating the way you breathe has a unique effect on emotions and emotional self-control. Through the regulation of breathing, it is easy to transfer their "attention" from the emotional impulse source to their own breathing, to unify their own spirit to the behavior of breathing and sucking, so as to achieve impulse control, calm passion, restore reason, achieve the purpose of self-control.

Breathing is a reflection of our mental health, and improving breathing is an effective remedy for many patients with emotional disorders. Alexander, an American mental hygienist, has studied the emotional disorders caused by the inhibition of breathing. According to the observation, patients with schizophrenia tend to breathe through the upper chest, while patients with neurosis breathe through the superficial diaphragm. Therefore, some doctors will teach patients to use the right way of breathing, to help patients gradually return to normal life.

From now on, please learn the correct way to breathe, so as to reduce anxiety and tension. When you are annoyed by an argument, nervous about giving your first speech or performance, or anxious about trying to solve a difficult problem, it is recommended that you stop and take a few deep breaths. At this point, you will feel relaxed and will stop frowning and losing your temper. What to do in meditation is to sit in a chair with your eyes closed and try to calm your mind. Then breathe in slowly and deeply, slowly and rhythmically. After fully inhaling, stop breathing for a few seconds, and then exhale slowly, more slowly than when you inhale. As you take these deep breaths, count "1, 2, 3..." each time you exhale. After repeated several times in a row, the muscle will enter a relaxed state from the tension, which can make the tension of the mood get the corresponding relief.
